The single most safety-critical component in an OTR wheel assembly. Lock-ring failure has caused fatalities in pits around the world. Kelios manufactures every lock ring under a patented hot-coiling process — delivering continuous elasticity, stable strength, and favorable residual compressive stress for a 100% safety factor.

The five process disciplines that separate a Kelios rim from a commodity wheel.

5.1

PATENTED HOT-COILED PROCESS

Lock rings are manufactured under Patent No. ZL200910187953.2. The hot-coiling process delivers continuous elasticity along the full ring circumference, stable strength against shock loading, and favorable residual compressive stress at the locking shoulder — the three properties that decide whether a lock ring holds or fails.

ZERO INCIDENTS IN 10+ YEARS

200 pcs / day production throughput against a 100% safety factor. Since the patent was put into use, there has been no recorded safety incident on a Kelios lock ring at any operator worldwide. That track record is the proof point our customers buy.

5.3

INDUCTION-HARDENED LOCK SHOULDER

The locking shoulder is induction-hardened to HRC 45–50 — hard enough to resist seat wear, soft enough to absorb dynamic shock without fracture. Each ring is proof-loaded to 1.5× rated capacity before shipping.

5.4

PHOSPHATE + EPOXY COATING

Phosphate primer with 80 µm epoxy topcoat for corrosion resistance against pit chemistry, road salt, and the brake-dust slurry that destroys uncoated rings within 18 months.

5.5

SERIALIZED + PROOF-TESTED

Every ring carries a laser-etched serial linking it to its heat lot, hot-coiling run, and proof-test certificate. The cert ships as a PDF with the order and is queryable for the lifetime of the chassis.
